Lexar NM790 1TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SLC

The Lexar NM790 1TB SSD is an M.2 2280 solid‑state drive that uses PCIe 4.0 and NVMe. Its main limitation is that it only fits motherboards with a compatible slot, so older systems that lack an M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 connector cannot use it. Because it is a single‑slot module, no extra power cables or brackets are needed.

Even with that restriction, the 1TB capacity gives plenty of space for OS, applications, and media. PCIe 4.0 delivers faster transfer speeds than older PCIe 3.0 drives, and the SLC write mode helps maintain performance during heavy workloads. The drive is designed for users who need fast boot times and large storage without filling a desk with cables.

Install the drive in a well‑ventilated slot, add a thermal pad if needed, and keep the firmware up to date. It mounts directly onto the board, so no extra brackets are required. Check that the BIOS recognizes the drive after installation and that the operating system formats it correctly.
